Epoxy Coating The Frames
Check out how I epoxy coated all the frames
After having glued up all the frames, I prepped them for their epoxy coating.
I want to coat every part of the boat with three layers of epoxy before installing them.
In Preparation for the first three layers, I cleaned up the glue joints and sanded everything with 120 grit sandpaper. I then laid everything out in my workshop with barely enough space to move around.
It took me roughly 2 Hours to apply one coat, after which I waited another 2 hours for the coat to turn tacky to then repeat the Process. The second side was a little easier since I had already done the vertical surfaces with the first side. Still, these were e couple of long workdays.
Since this was in January 2024 I had to heat my workshop extensively. I Usually kept it at around 15 degrees C so the epoxy wouldn’t spoil. For the days of coating, I was able to bring up the Temperature to roughly 20 degrees C.
